How It Works
PIVX holders can stake coins to help secure the proof-of-stake network. The official specifications list a 10,000 PIV collateral requirement for a masternode. PIVX also supports SHIELD, an optional privacy system based on custom Sapling zk-SNARKs; users can choose between transparent and shielded transaction types.
Masternodes participate in governance, including votes on budget proposals. This is separate from the ordinary block reward: PIVX lists a 10 PIV block reward, split between stakers and masternode operators, and a separate budget allocation that can provide up to 10 PIV per block only when approved proposals qualify.
