Maple Finance

Maple Finance, now commonly styled as Maple, is an onchain asset manager focused on institutional lending and yield strategies. It connects eligible borrowers with capital through lending products and onchain infrastructure. Maple’s current documentation describes fixed-rate, overcollateralized institutional loans as a primary source of yield; terms and risks vary by product.

How Maple works

Maple combines onchain pools and loan transactions with borrower screening, credit assessment, and other operational work that may happen offchain. Pool delegates and Maple’s lending teams assess borrowers and manage strategies; smart contracts record and execute parts of the lending process. Onchain visibility does not remove credit, collateral, counterparty, legal, or smart-contract risk.

Maple and Syrup

Maple’s institutional products serve borrowers and capital allocators. Syrup is Maple’s route for making some institutional yield strategies available to a broader DeFi audience through products such as syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT. These products are not bank deposits, and their yields are not guaranteed.

Legacy MPL and the SYRUP migration

MPL was Maple’s earlier governance token. Maple’s official migration documentation says the conversion rate was 1 MPL to 100 SYRUP and that the final conversion window closed on May 21, 2025. The documentation says MPL and xMPL no longer provide Maple governance rights, staking benefits, or protocol utility. SYRUP and stSYRUP are the current governance tokens described by Maple.

Risks and limits

Maple is a lending and asset-management platform, not a bank account. Borrower defaults, collateral value changes, liquidity restrictions, smart-contract failures, and product or jurisdiction limits can affect users. Read the terms and risk disclosures for the specific product before using it.

Social Media Sentiment

This is a small qualitative snapshot, not a representative poll. Maple’s official September 2026 update emphasizes product expansion and integrations. A Maple community-forum discussion also contains continuing frustration from some MPL holders who missed the closed SYRUP conversion window and requests to reopen it. These themes describe different parts of the conversation and do not indicate market direction.
