Illuvium is a blockchain gaming ecosystem whose ILV token is used for governance and protocol-defined staking or distribution programs. ILV is separate from the game’s collectible NFTs: holding the token does not itself grant ownership of a particular in-game item or guarantee rewards.

What ILV does
Illuvium’s published token design gives ILV a governance role and connects staked tokens to program-defined rewards. The ecosystem also includes game assets represented as NFTs, which are separate on-chain items. Token ownership and NFT ownership are different: an ILV balance does not give a holder title to a creature, plot, or other collectible.
Networks and game assets
Illuvium has changed its asset infrastructure over time. In January 2026, the project published a phased migration plan from Immutable X toward Immutable zkEVM, with different timing and actions for Overworld, Arena, Zero, tokens, and NFTs. That notice is a migration guide, not a guarantee that every item remains on the same network today. Check Illuvium’s current support pages and marketplace details for the specific asset and chain before transferring it.
Tokenomics and staking
The published tokenomics set ILV’s maximum supply at 10 million and describe governance and game-related utility. Historical distribution included a Balancer liquidity bootstrapping sale and staking or yield-farming emissions whose amounts depended on pool and lock terms; old schedules should not be read as current reward rates. Illuvium’s staking V3 guide places staking on Base and describes revenue distribution and Shards, but eligibility and amounts can change. Rewards are not guaranteed income, and ILV can trade independently of game activity and NFT markets.
