Dymension is a Cosmos SDK Layer 1 hub designed to coordinate application-specific blockchains called RollApps. A RollApp has its own execution environment and can use the Dymension RollApp Development Kit (RDK); the Hub provides shared coordination and settlement-related services. A RollApp is not simply an Ethereum rollup, and its security, data availability, bridge, and sequencer arrangements depend on its actual design.

How RollApps relate to the Hub
The RDK is a framework for building RollApps on the Dymension Hub. In the intended model, the Hub keeps records about registered RollApps and their sequencers, while each RollApp executes its own application transactions. This separates application execution from the coordination layer. It does not mean the Hub executes every RollApp transaction or that every RollApp inherits identical security guarantees automatically.
Interoperability can use IBC and other supported routes, but a transfer depends on the source and destination chains, light clients, relayers, bridge contracts, and the route actually used. “Connected to Dymension” is not enough to establish that a transfer is trustless, immediate, or reversible.
Sequencers, settlement, and eIBC
Sequencers order and process a RollApp’s transactions. The Hub’s protocol modules track RollApp state and the process by which updates become finalized. Dymension’s codebase also includes eIBC-related modules for liquidity providers to fulfill certain withdrawal demand orders before the corresponding RollApp packet is fully finalized. This can improve user-perceived speed, but it introduces liquidity-provider and settlement risks; fast fulfillment is not the same as final settlement or a guarantee against a later dispute.
When evaluating a particular RollApp, check who can operate its sequencer, how state updates are challenged or finalized, where transaction data is available, how deposits and withdrawals work, and what happens if its operators or bridge fail. These properties can differ by RollApp and can change as software and governance evolve.
DYM token and supply
DYM is the Hub’s native asset. It is used for network fees and staking, and the chain includes governance functions. The original launch supply was one billion DYM, but that figure should not be presented as a hard current maximum: CoinGecko’s current listing reports total supply above one billion and no maximum supply. Circulating and total-supply estimates change as tokens are issued, released, or otherwise accounted for.
Staking DYM involves validator, unbonding, network, and market risks; rewards and issuance parameters can change. A market price or circulating-supply number does not describe every allocation or vesting schedule. Check current chain data and official proposals for a specific supply question rather than relying on old launch or airdrop figures.
Social Media Sentiment
In an April 2026 r/Dymension thread, a new community member asked for an up-to-date staking guide, RollApp information, and roadmap sources, noting that many older discussions were stale. That post illustrates an information-discovery question, not a broad measure of user sentiment or current network health. Read the referenced Reddit discussion.
