Feathercoin

How Feathercoin works

Feathercoin uses proof-of-work mining with NeoScrypt. Its project documentation gives a one-minute target block interval and describes Advanced Checkpointing as a defense intended to limit deep reorganizations. A target interval is an average design goal, not a guarantee that each payment is final in one minute.

The project’s site describes NeoScrypt as ASIC-resistant. That is a design claim, not proof that mining is equally accessible or decentralized under current hardware and market conditions.

Tokenomics and issuance

The project documentation lists a 336-million FTC total-supply limit and a block-reward halving every 2.1 million blocks. New FTC enter circulation through mining rewards under the protocol’s issuance schedule. The reference page also lists a 40 FTC reward, but it does not give a current block height or a fresh reward check; this overview therefore does not present 40 FTC as today’s reward.

CoinGecko’s former Feathercoin URL redirected to its general homepage during review. A current circulating supply, market capitalization and price could not be verified, so no live market table is shown.

History

  • 2013 — Peter Bushnell announced Feathercoin as an open-source Bitcoin and Litecoin-derived cryptocurrency.

Its later technical identity centered on NeoScrypt mining, rapid target blocks and checkpointing.
