Bitdeer

Bitdeer Technologies Group (NASDAQ: BTDR) is a Singapore-based crypto computing company founded in 2021 by Jihan Wu — the co-founder of Bitmain, the world’s largest Bitcoin ASIC manufacturer. Bitdeer provides mining-as-a-service (MaaS), cloud hashrate products, and is developing its own proprietary ASIC hardware line called Sealminer. Bitdeer listed on NASDAQ in April 2023 via a SPAC merger, becoming one of the few mining companies with ties directly to hardware manufacturing expertise.

Background

Bitdeer was created when Jihan Wu split from Bitmain during a leadership dispute with co-founder Micree Zhan. Wu took certain Bitmain business units and customer relationships and restructured them into Bitdeer as an independent entity. Because Wu was the primary architect of Bitmain’s commercial mining hosting and cloud hashrate operations, Bitdeer launched with an established customer base.

Products and Services

Product Description
Mining-as-a-Service (MaaS) Customers rent dedicated mining capacity at Bitdeer’s facilities
Cloud Hashrate Retail customers purchase hashrate contracts without owning hardware
Sealminer ASICs Proprietary mining hardware developed in-house
Data Centers Owned facilities in Texas, Norway, Bhutan, and other locations

Sealminer ASIC Development

One of Bitdeer’s key strategic differentiators is its vertical integration into ASIC chip design (Sealminer line). If successful, this would reduce Bitdeer’s dependency on Bitmain and MicroBT for hardware supply — a significant competitive moat in the mining industry where hardware access during supply crunches is critical.
