Galxe (GAL)

Galxe (formerly Project Galaxy) is the largest onchain credential and loyalty platform in Web3 — a system where blockchain projects create quest campaigns (complete a swap, hold a token, vote in a DAO, attend an event) that users can verify and collect as on-chain NFT credentials, building a portable “Web3 passport” of proven achievements that can be used for airdrop eligibility, community governance rights, and cross-protocol loyalty programs. With over 20 million users and thousands of campaigns from protocols including BNB Chain, Optimism, Polygon, and hundreds of DeFi/NFT projects, Galxe has become the primary infrastructure layer for Web3 community growth and user acquisition. GAL is required to create campaigns on the Galxe platform (paid as a fee) and governs the protocol. Galxe rebranted from “Project Galaxy” to “Galxe” in October 2022.

How It Works

Credential system:

Galxe’s “Credentials” are verifiable on-chain or off-chain data points:

  • On-chain: held a token on a certain date, made a transaction, voted in a DAO
  • Off-chain: Twitter follower count, GitHub contributions, KYC status
  • NFT-based: held a specific NFT, completed a quest

Campaigns:

Projects deploy “Galxe Space” campaigns — themed series of quests with NFT rewards:

  1. User connects wallet and social accounts
  2. Galxe verifies credentials (oracle-style verification)
  3. User claims an NFT if credentials are met
  4. Galxe records the claim on-chain

OAT (On-chain Achievement Token):

OATs are lightweight NFTs issued for campaign completion — cheaper to mint than full ERC-721 NFTs; used as proof-of-participation.

GAL utility:

Protocols pay GAL to:

  • Create credential campaigns on the Galxe platform
  • Deploy custom NFT contracts through Galxe’s infrastructure
  • Access premium campaign features

Common Misconceptions

“Galxe credentials are just NFTs.” Galxe credentials are verifiable — the platform actually checks whether you performed the action (held a token, made a transaction) before issuing the NFT credential. They represent proven behaviors, not just images.

“Galxe is only for airdrops.” While Galxe is commonly used for airdrop eligibility verification, it’s also used for member-gated content, conference attendance verification, event ticketing, DAO governance rights, and loyalty programs — with utility beyond pure airdrop farming.
