Belt Finance was a stable-swap and yield-optimization protocol whose documentation describes multi-strategy vaults, receipt tokens called beltTokens, and liquidity pools. Its design combined swaps among similarly priced assets with strategies that deployed deposits to other DeFi protocols; the available documentation is largely historical and does not establish current vault activity or returns.
Vaults and beltTokens
In the documented model, a deposit into a vault returned a beltToken representing a proportional claim on the vault’s underlying assets. The vault could allocate funds among multiple external strategies and compound resulting yield into the share value. That structure spreads exposure across strategies but also adds dependencies on each strategy, its underlying protocol, and the vault’s own contracts. A receipt token is not a guarantee of immediate redemption at a fixed value.
Stable-Swap Pools and BELT
Belt’s stable-swap pools were designed to trade assets intended to have similar values. The BELT token was described as a governance and incentive token, with emissions and fee-related buyback or reward rules in historical documentation. Those rates and schedules can change; old documentation should not be used as a current quote for supply, fees, or yield.
Exploit History and Risk
On May 29, 2021, security publication Rekt reported that a flash-loan attack using an incorrect share valuation drained about $6.3 million from Belt’s BSC strategy. Separately, BNB Chain later reported a $1.05 million white-hat bounty for a vulnerability that had put more than $10 million at risk. These were separate security events. Neither the bounty nor audits erase the exploit history or prove that old contracts are safe to use today.
Social Media Sentiment
- A May 2021 r/defi thread about Belt Finance records users reacting to the reported loss and discussing their own exposure and the safety of DeFi vaults. It is a small, post-incident sample from 2021; it says nothing reliable about present-day user sentiment or current contracts.
