Mendi Finance is a lending and borrowing protocol originally built on Linea. Linea’s current app directory lists “Malda (prev. Mendi Finance)” and describes Mendi’s evolution to Malda, a unified lending app. This establishes the public naming transition, but does not prove that every Mendi contract, market, or user position migrated.
How lending works
Suppliers deposit supported assets and borrowers take loans against collateral. Borrowing capacity, interest, and liquidation thresholds depend on market parameters and price sources. A position can be liquidated when its collateral no longer meets the required health level. Supported assets and rates are protocol-specific and may change, so older Mendi descriptions are not a current market list.
Before interacting, follow the current official Malda site from Linea’s directory and verify the network, contract addresses, supported assets, and any migration instructions. Do not assume an old wallet position or MENDI label is automatically supported by a rebranded interface.
Risks and current scope
Lending risks include falling collateral prices, oracle errors, contract flaws, liquidity shortages, and liquidation losses. A 2024 Mendi governance proposal about wrapped-Bitcoin listings discussed bridge assumptions and connected-market risk. It records issues raised in that proposal, but does not establish today’s market configuration.
Social Media Sentiment
A 2024 Mendi governance-forum thread considered a solvBTC and m-BTC listing and discussed potential utility alongside bridge and shared-market risks. This is a narrow technical governance discussion, not broad user sentiment. The reviewed public material does not establish a current consensus about the Malda transition.
