Silo Finance

Silo Finance is a decentralized lending protocol built around risk-isolated markets. Its current Silo V3 documentation describes permissionless markets with modular components; a market can be configured for particular assets, borrowing parameters, oracles, interest rates, and liquidation behavior. Because product versions and deployments can differ, “Silo” should not be treated as one interchangeable pool with one set of settings.

How isolated markets work

Users supply assets to or borrow from a particular market, subject to that market’s parameters. Isolation is meant to contain market-specific exposure rather than spread every collateral risk across a shared pool. Market deployments are permissionless and immutable once created, although Silo documentation says some configurations may allow limited upgrades to interest-rate curves or oracles. The exact deployment determines which rule applies.

Liquidation and lender exposure

Silo V3 documents two liquidation paths: selling collateral to repay debt, or an internal collateral-debt swap that writes off the borrower’s debt while distributing collateral share tokens to lenders. The second path avoids relying on a market sale at that moment, but it does not make the collateral’s value or ability to exit certain. A lender may receive exposure to the collateral instead of the borrowed asset. Market isolation limits where losses can spread; it does not eliminate smart-contract, oracle, collateral, liquidity, liquidation, or market-configuration risk.

What to check

Identify whether a position uses Silo V2 or V3, the specific market and chain, its oracle and borrowing thresholds, the enabled liquidation modules, and whether its configuration is immutable or partly upgradeable. Review the collateral token and the liquidity available to withdraw or sell it. Silo’s own documentation says technical review of an app listing does not guarantee the economic safety of a market’s collateral.

Social Media Sentiment

In a small the Reddit discussion lending comparison, one commenter described Silo liquidity as thinner than larger alternatives and others asked about firsthand use. The discussion predates Silo V3, so it is historical context rather than a current product review or representative sentiment.
