DogeBox is a Dogecoin-focused server platform built on NixOS. It combines Dogecoin services with a modular system for installing and running community-built applications called Pups. DogeBox is infrastructure for self-hosting software; it is not a cryptocurrency, a consumer wallet, or a replacement for Dogecoin Core.

How DogeBox works
DogeBox OS is a customized NixOS distribution that brings together the DogeBox user interface, the Doge Runtime Environment (DRE), and tools for managing Pups. A Pup is a packaged application that can run within the DogeBox environment, such as a Dogecoin node, payment tool, or block explorer. The platform is intended to make it easier to host and connect Dogecoin-related services on a machine that the operator controls.
Project status and limitations
The DogeBox OS repository describes the software as a pre-alpha developer preview and advises against using it for production workloads or storing significant funds in addresses generated by it. Features, supported hardware, and installation steps may change. Check the current project documentation and release notes before installing it, and do not treat the project’s security claims as a substitute for independent review.
